It's sometimes a fine line between experimentation and not being commercial.

"It's all about education" is the painful line anyone who saw dotcom/dotbomb will remember which is being repeated in web 2.0. The ol' countdown for the tipping/inflection point and real budgets kicking in.

Mostly though, it's about delivering products which the end consumer loves and uses. No point building a portfolio of failures, whatever the budget. Often with new categories of products and clients, there are unforseen non controllable events that occur which impact upon delivery. (whether it be agreeing on a logo and the marketing plan, redesigning the home page, API integration issues, legal delays and so on.)

You can only move as fast as the weakest link, and as a startup you try and move fast, but (when/if) you are also bootstrapping other people's resources, these have dependencies in them. The more these can be planned for and incorporated into a deal the better.

Anyway Saturday here and my brothers birthday (over to Mornington at my bro's gf new place there) but main headache (that u dont want to wake up to) is the main windows PC here - a Virtual Communities Windows ME IBM PC (not mine) which is NOT powering on at all (the light quickly flicks on/off and fan makes a noise powering down quickly) So my research (great way to spend Friday night) says it could be a power supply issue, or dead motherboard, and I'm winworried about a virus (which had attacked Outlook express earlier in week) deleting registry files : aagh then not turning on. Anyway this PC is how my Apple wireless network connects to the Internet. So I lose the PC I lose the internet when here. (im a bit of nomad these days going between Shoreham, Rye, Elsternwick and generally use the wireless networks to connect - the things we do to make a startup happen) Shite. Help please :|
