Another 8 Digit Australian Web 2.0 Acquisition
Seems ironic that the day ninemsn announce the finalisation of the acquisition of HWW for $13.9M au (even tho i thought this deal was announced months ago), ninemsn announce the supremely boringly named ninemsn MyLocal.
The irony is alot of HWW's properties have the Your-Prefix. YourTV, YourMovies etc. So will they change to My or keep the schizophrenia ? It seems the cross platform content in this play meant ninemsn was willing to pay much more for "leisure" content which is harder to monetize online. More M+A in Australia online, than is announced in the US. And the prices being paid are only 1/3rd to one 1/2 of that in the US - even though there might be a larger difference in the internet audience size.

"HWW is a great company in terms of aggregating information that is very valuable both in a web and a mobile sense,"... "It has built up the capability of taking that information and putting it into a very good mobile format for the new generation of mobile phones," he said. "... "As the 3G networks build out, there's a real opportunity to provide services that we couldn't do before."
