27% Heard of Podcasting : 11% Listened to It

Sometimes I get into regional discussions about the importance of RSS vs Blogs vs Podcasts vs Media and so on. Well RSS technically drives all of them, if not a majority of how consumers digest/subscribe.

When regional online businesses are still largely run on HTML and an adserver (throw in some google adsense for non Tier A publishers) and there is a large global non-US opportunity in the interim. I'll shutitup now :) Look at the graph pictured !

Report Highlights:
The weekly Internet radio audience : 50%+ last year.
19% of 18-34yrs listened to Internet radio in last week.
Satellite radio subscribers twice as likely : 100K+ households
Many people are still confused about what podcasts are.
Podcasting attracts a relatively youthful audience.
More than half of listeners are under 35.
11% of all Americans have listened to audio podcasts.
Equals 27 million Americans that have tried podcasts.
More than half of all teens own an iPod or other portable media player.
