A Pink Mac Anyone ?
Nickstarr, the Hugh Heffner of Flickrlicious hotees plugs some text on the new Macs. I'd have to agree with the Currys of this world who are saying it'll be based around the Powerbooks and not fit in Steve Jobs scratched jeans pocket (btw why doesnt Podhoo run their Y-Music Engine and now Podcasts on OSX ? I like Itunes, but would love a web-based service with portable playlists.) Being an Imac G5 20" + Ibook 14.1 user - I couldnt be happier with my hardware. The ibook today is the new powerbook (dave winer bought an ibook for example - not sure if it was the 12" or the 14", and then he sold his company for a couple million $$$ a couple months later, which buys a family house in the Bay Area after tax ;) which was the best laptop in the world. Now MrMcmanus, if you buy a second hand Ibook doesnt mean you can sell your website for $1m :) Or maybe you will with a 20 year earn-out.
The Powerbook is a bit like the 996 911 Porsche was in 2003-4; Best of Class. Fast. Reliable. Expensive to repair. Just hadnt had a facelift for a while. And an injection of Alicia Soul. (awesome set btw) The Powerbook, as much as I love it, reminds me of 1.0 - DotCom, Dotbomb, The Phoenix (oops The Phoenix hasnt happened yet, that was something to do with Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes having a baby, and journalists forecasting December as likely announcement for miscarriage) OK back to Porsche, oops, Powerbooks... no Porsche 996 911 circa late 90's-2004 - It wasnt a 993, nor maybe is the 997 the ultimate model. Now when the Cayman hardtop comes out, and Ruf get their hands on it. Now I'm distracted. Quatrroporte anyone. Brabus SLR then. Or my favourite non daily drive money no object practical exotic - The Knife's Edge. ("A silver ghost decorates each CCR vehicle. This is to honour the Swedish Fighter Jet Squadron No. 1, which left its premises to Koenigsegg after being shut down in 2003. The ghost was the squadron's symbol. The Koenigsegg crew feels they have taken over the legacy of the squadron, and shows this by marking their latest creation with it... The Koenigsegg CCR raised McLaren's previously unofficial mark of 372 km/h set at Nardo/Prototipo in 1993 with over 15 km/h. On top of this the CCR broke the official McLaren F1 record of 386.7 km/h, which was set on the 9 km straight line VW Ehra facility in Wolfsburg Germany.") I agree with Fred Wilson and Brad Felds recent post about imitative "built to flip" 2.0 mentalities that are sprouting. Oh well no Gallardo vs F430 Cabriolet Race-Off. Wonder what they drive at AOL-Weblogs.
Anyway so we should find out Thursday if Apple is releasing a new Powerbook and how sexy it is. (Steve Jobs - can you make me a water/scratch-proof 22 gram device like my shuffle but just make it a bit sexier + record mp3 / auto-upload podcasts / with fm radio.. and if u want you could put a screen with it, but im a shuffle addict so no screen no absolute probs JUST AN IDEA.. i just find the shuffle is hard to operate if i more than 4 hours of new music and podcasts) : "Over the weekend there was rumor of a Madonna-edition iPod nano that will be pink. Think Secret has been reported that there will be 2 new iPod models priced at the same price as the ones they replace at $299 and $399...'Sources have said the iPods will sport smaller enclosures while the $399 iPod will very likely see a bump to 80GB. The $299 iPod may also see its storage capacity double from 20GB to 40GB. The color options are expected to mirror the iPod nano, white and black.'"
