Adam Curry Buys Podcastalley

I thought he had. Recent Daily Source Codes had Chris McIntyre - founder of podcastalley, which has the leading top 25 of 'indie podcasts' and directory (which taught me technically how to find and subscribe podcasts start of 2005 !), working out of the new kleiner/sequioa SOMA podshow offices. Can we stop the Dawn and Drew begging for a car, podcastalley votes (and dawn bitching about drew and doing 11 minute podcasts irregularly - even tho they did their first '5 day' week of very short badly produced podcasts. (Ron Bloom - fix these slackers up... Keith and the Girl rock 25x harder btw - they do 6 hours a week of great quality material) Um, lets have a guess of PodcastAlley-Chris McIntyre / Podshow deal structure, totally speculative -

- Couple to Few hundred $K - cash - for site to Chris... plus relocation expenses plus
- $125K salary with benefits
- Nice Stock 'options' over Podshow (less than 1% of company) or less cash and more stock
- Good title
- Corner Office
- Aeron chair
- He will still run PodcastAlley and get involved in cool stuff (board presos for k + s)

No, there is a fit there. For Podshow. And it aint easy running a site yourself and supporting family, then competing against Apple. The pass of least resistance etc

"podcast_alley_logo2.gifPodcast Alley, the grassroots podcast directory that played a big role in spurring the popularity of podcasting, has been acquired by PodShow. The deal happened last month, we're told, and founder Chris McIntyre is already making the move from Nashville to San Francisco."

This is the first acquisition for PodShow, the podcasting company started by Adam Curry and Ron Bloom to commercialize podcasting. It comes less than a month after we learned that PodShow had received a round of funding from Kleiner Perkins and Sequoia. PodShow's business model centers around promoting podcasts and finding sponsors for them. It also works with mainstream media companies to help them produce and distribute podcasts (the company has worked with Paris Hilton and is currently working with director Spike Lee). The deal is a marriage of two of the podcasting pioneers. Curry is viewed by many as the originator of podcasting. And Podcast Alley has been one of the key players in the still-young podcasting ecosystem. Podcast Alley has nearly 7,000 podcasts and 120,000 podcast episodes in its directory. For podcasters seekng fame and fortune, a spot in Podcast Alley's top ten list is one of the most coveted prizes (along now with Apple's new iTunes podcast directory)."
