Life of a Start-Up
Been in Glenelg Adelaide this week checking out the views, RSS, Ajax and learning about the Open Source Movement. And it Looks like Im finally doing my own start-up with an awesome team of three other geeks and freaks.
"At last month's Gnomedex conference in Seattle, execs of companies PubSub, Bloglines, and FeedBurner agreed they need to find ways to get paid for their distribution services. Dave Winer, often credited as the developer of the RSS technology standard, endorsed its use by advertisers. Rather than having ads included in RSS messages, he said in a comment from the audience, how about about feeds of ads, branded by advertisers, which people would request. "I think that's a great way to generate money in RSS," he said. "I spend a lot of money at Best Buy (BBY: news, chart, profile) and I would love to get a feed from them about what's new and hot and on sale."
What we'll have soon is the tag clouds of delicious, the lazy registration of google news, the 'future' watchlists of pubsub meets the rss feed reading and sharing of bloglines, plus RSS feed creation + promotion, with enterprise grade advertising and analytics, running hard on openBSD, python, twisted and ajax ! (see GG I got openBSD in there)
