Sophie Monk and Melbourne Long Tail Camp
I cannot confirm or deny either, being in existence or attendance. Come November 11th, Melbourne (esp after Cameron Reilly's Web 2.0 Dinner at Riva the other week) - We May have a full text tune in, partial turn on or headline only drop out event. Heck, come Friday we might just have to scrape HTML off the BBQ, another Crunchy format and start surfing and turfing in Elsternwick. I feel The Long Tail may finally be making its way to Melbourne, Australia. Stay tuned Mon-Tues for last minute Illegal Dance Party Like Arrangements. OK, this isnt Manchester... but we do have lots of space and wireless. I've been "liasing" with the Supr.c.ilio.us' dudes who have organised this event, and will aim to have some type of "hook-up" between the events or at least register on Amazon's Mechanical Turk. Here's their Global Blurb :
"Long-Tail Camp will start on November 11, 2005 at a location of your choosing. Just show up and start talking about the long-tail of whatever. There might not be a lot of people paying attention or even showing up but hey, it’s the long tail, what can you expect? We’re certain that Long-Tail Camp will be a huge success and expect it will be over in about 10-12 years, depending on the exact parameters of the distribution..." And remember the Rules :
* Attendees must give a demo, a session, or help with one. This is called sharing, and we like it.
* Presenters are responsible for making sure that notes/slides/audio/video of some kind is published on the web for the benefit of all and those who won't be present. Doesn't matter who does the work, just that the work get disseminated! What happens at Long Tail Camp must be spread beyond Long Tail Camp!"
If you're a 6 figure blogger, VC, journo, portal worker, unemployed internet addict, or just interested in some 2.0 Friday night fun and your name is on The Door... in Melbourne (lets not let every other city have all the fun), I need some market research before we give you the Unreleased Reader Notes to The Da Vinci Code, then email me interest, ideas, salad arrangements.... invite people, preferably without Samurai Swords..
