Fred Wilson, the del.icio.us VC who grew up in an Army Family and developed a love of economics and 60's-70's music (rumour is he will be starting a music label now he has a sponsor for his top 50) Either way any parent that in 2005 does a weekly music podcast with his kids (Josh is a lead singer/guitar player in a group) must rank amongst the hippest 2.0 Parents. Fred summarises his position from the East Coast Parents Support Group for Kids in MySpace : "And I am embracing it; for me, for my kids, and for the rest of my life." Now the I'm not sure the discounted cashflows will go onto infinity or the rest of our lives, but I agree with Fred when he says "Personalizing words and spaces and communities. We are at the dawn of the age of personalized media. The web has given the world a place where the audience is the publisher and what we are witnessing (and hopefully participating in) is the personalization of media. It will manifest itself in many strange and wonderful ways." Part of being a teenager now happens virtually, that's all. And parents will always be worried that their kids are just roaming around the streets, which they are. Support Group Details Here.
