OPML 2.0 is Here : Bigger + Smaller than RSS
Dave Winer is like a geeks version of Steve Jobs : Imagine a Big Tech Tradeshow + Dave Winer with the turtleneck on, OPML 2.0 spec (written down on a napkin from a blogger meeting he went to in his MPV with GPS giving him the wrong directions - all podcasted a year back) Anyway flashforward, so Dave is on stage talking about the billions that has been spent on RSS by companies such as New York Times, and Yahoo, but from the back pocket of the chinos comes the napkin, and he says, not lighting a cigarette - "But Wait, this time we'd thought we could make it even better. It's Bigger than RSS - subscribe to the best of a topic not just one source. And it's smaller, because you subscribe only once and it updates itself to give you the best on your passions. I give to you OPML 2.0" Anyway, congrats Dave. I'm a big convert to opml reading lists. I read and filter thousands of aussie blogs + media each day through the format + love it ! The thing I love most is how Dave focuses on the art side as well as the commercial and means it : "Here’s best wishes to all of us that OPML 2.0 will be a great engine for growth in our industry and the art!"
